How to get here ...

There are several options to get to Central London from outside of the UK. All our wedding events as well as the Premier Inn hotel (see below) are in Central London. The hotel is close to the Underground station Monument (about 3 minutes to walk). Other Underground stations (Tower Hill, Cannon Street, Bank) are also within a 10-minute walking distance.

By train:

From Germany and the Netherlands, perhaps the easiest option is to take the Eurostar train (see: www.thetrainline.com for discount tickets). The Eurostar terminal is right in Central London. The Eurostar terminal is right in Central London at St. Pancras International. From there, take the Underground to the hotel (check on Google Maps for current options - there are many).

By car:

It's also possible to drive though through the Euro Tunnel by car or to take the Calais-Dover ferry over the channel. Finding parking space in Central London can be difficult though. In addition, London charges a fee of £15/day for cars that enter the city ("congestion charge").

By plane:

London has five airports (Heathrow, Gatwick, City Airport, Stansted, and Luton). Therefore, it makes sense to use the function “search all London airports” when using a flight search engine. All five airports have train and bus connections to Central London and each airport is roughly an hour away by public transport. (except City, which is closer but doesn’t operate as many flights).

From Heathrow, take the Underground Piccadilly Line (eastbound, about £5 to Central London). You can use your contactless credit card to enter the Underground, so you don’t need to buy an extra ticket. If that doesn’t work (e.g., maybe your bank doesn’t allow contactless payment abroad), consider buying an OysterCard (rechargeable transit card) at the ticket machines in the Underground. From Heathrow, you can also take a taxi but we don’t recommend it; it’s expensive and may take a long time with traffic. You can also take the Heathrow Express train, which is also expensive and saves very little time compared to the Underground.

From Gatwick, take the train to London Blackfriars (about £11) and then the Underground District Line (eastbound, 3 stops). You can pay forthe train by going through the barriers with your contactless card.

From Stansted, buy a ticket for the Stansted Express train to Liverpool Street station (about £20). From there, you can walk to the hotel (13 minutes).

From Luton Airport, take the train to the King’s Cross train station (about £15) and then take the Underground (see Google Maps for options) to get to the hotel.

From City Airport, take the Overground to Bank (westbound, about 25 minutes, £2-3) and walk to the hotel from there.

Travel tipps:

All EU citizens need a valid passport to enter the UK. Make sure that your passport is valid until after the wedding and don’t forget to bring it with you.

In the UK, credit and debit cards are accepted everywhere. You don’t need to take out British pounds unless you want to have cash.

If you want to charge your electronic devices, you will need adapter plugs. You can buy such adapters at the airport and all major train stations if needed.

Within London, avoid taxis and Uber if possible. The fastest and easiest way to get around is usually the Underground. And remember, traffic is on the left side of the road. Be careful when you cross the street!

At most restaurants, the tip is already included in the bill, so you don’t need to tip extra.

... and where to stay

                                   Accommodation:

We recommend the Premier Inn at London Bank, which is only a 7-minute walk from the Oyster Shed (main venue for Saturday). We will stay there as well. If you haven't booked yet, you can do so here. Please see our email from 19 October 2021 for all the details.

                                                                                             Breakfast:

We will have breakfast together at the

                                                                                               hotel each morning.
